Welcome to our very first LTS virtual golf tournament! The LTS Virtual Golf Tournament 2021 is a virtual tournament that golfers can play on any course, anywhere in the world. No matter where you live, you can join the LTS Virtual Golf Tournament!
Tournament players will have the chance to interact and play golf with each other, post and share content to the Tournament Feed – and win sweet prizes!
And, every registrant will receive an exclusive pair of LTS-logoed socks!!
Read on for more prize information and the official rules. To make the tournament fair for all players, scores will be calculated and tracked using the Peoria Scoring System (a system designed, in part, to reduce the chance of cheating in a golf tournament).
How does it work?
After registering, you’ll sign up with the 18Birdies Golf App – instructions will be sent after you register. With the LTS-specific tournament code, your scores will be compared with other players using the modified Peoria Scoring System.
You can play as an Individual (and your score will be compared to other Individual players) OR as a four-player team using Best Ball format (score will be compared to other Teams).
With the modified Peoria Scoring System, 6 holes are secretly selected as the scoring holes. At the end of the tournament, the 6 secret holes will be revealed and top performers will be shown on either the “Individual Stroke – Net” leaderboard or the “Best Ball – Net” leaderboard. These are the leaderboards from which LTS will use the Qualified Round criteria to select a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner from the Individuals and the Team groups.
A modified Peoria handicap is calculated by adding the player’s strokes over par on the selected hole, and multiplying that number by 2.8. This will be the player’s allowance to be deducted from the gross score. The maximum hole score for allowance purposes is three over par on par-3s and 4s, and four over par on par-5s.
A player scores 98 for a round. The player is 11 over pay on the six selected holes.
11 x 2.8 = 30.8 = 31 stroke allowance
Net score is 98-31 = 67 Net
Players tee off and complete their rounds, playing stroke play and scoring in the normal fashion.

Tournament Rules and Guidelines
To qualify you must play and post one (1) Qualified round at a course of your choosing (Par 71 or greater) on or between May 1, 2021 and May 31, 2021.
In the event that there is a tie, the USGA recommended method for tiebreakers will be used to determine the winner. If a tie still remains after this method is applied the winner will be selected based first on most birdies in their round, and then if still tied, we’ll award the tiebreaker to whoever made birdie first in their round.
Tournament admins reserve the right to contest and/or disqualify any questionable or suspect rounds.
Registration necessary – this is to support LTS students!
All contests will conclude on the date posted. Golf rounds played after the posted end date are not eligible for tournament or contest entry. Golf rounds played after the posted end date are not eligible for prizes.
Winners will be selected from two categories: Individual Players and Team Categories. Three (3) winners from each category will be selected based on the top 3 tournament performers, defined by the first three places on the net tournament leaderboard.
The Tournament is open to any Registrants. A participant must use the 18Birdies app to score the tournament round.
Competitors must play on Par 71, 72, or 73 courses. (This is because in some cases, executive or par 3 courses will not have appropriate data used for scoring and so would not qualify for a leaderboard.)
Winner Selection and Notification
The odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received. Any attempted second entry shall be discarded, and the entrant may be disqualified from the Contest.
All drawings will be conducted by the LTS staff. The decisions of the LTS staff are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Entrants need not be present at the drawing to win a prize.
Winner(s) will be announced in the 18Birdies App. Additionally, winner(s) will be notified by email or phone. If a winner cannot be reached after a reasonable effort has been made within five (5) business days of LTS’s first attempt, or if an entrant is found to be ineligible, an alternate winner may be selected.
In the event that there is a tie, the USGA recommended method for tiebreakers will be used to determine the winner. The USGA recommended method recommends, in the event of a tie, selecting a winner based on the best score for the last nine holes.
If a tie still remains after the USGA recommended method is applied the winner will be selected based first on most birdies in their round, and then if still tied, we’ll award the tiebreaker to whoever made birdie first in their round.
