Mr. Luther Coggin, who, along with his wife, Blanche Batey Coggin, generously supported the work of Lexington Theological Seminary, passed away on December 10th at the age of 88.
In 2008, Luther and Blanche Coggin bestowed a gift establishing the Blanch B. Coggin Endowment at LTS to enhance educational excellence and expand opportunities for faculty and students. The couple received the 2013 Lexington Theological Seminary President’s Award for Outstanding Service and Ministry in 2013.
The Coggins met as teenagers in their Sunday school class at First Christian Church in Birmingham, Ala. Lifelong Disciples, the Coggins have ties to LTS through its graduates who served their congregations. Luther and Blanche were married for 70 years and are survived by his three daughters Cindy Coggin (Kim), Christy Coggin Hayden and Tracye Coggin Hawkins, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
We are deeply grateful for Mr. Coggin’s life, service and generosity to Lexington Theological Seminary.
