Adjunct Positions

Lexington Theological Seminary is seeking adjunct faculty to teach courses in its new online program that integrates intellectual, spiritual and practical elements of congregational life and leadership.  Positions are available in the following areas: Christian education, ethics (expertise in biomedical ethics especially welcome).  Ph.D. or ABD is expected; but for some Christian education courses, significant experience in congregational ministry and advanced knowledge of the relevant literature will be considered.  Candidates must demonstrate abilities to apply their discipline to contexts of ministry.  Candidates must also demonstrate strong technological skills and pedagogical experience that have prepared them to teach in an LMS environment (with discussion boards, chat rooms, online quizzes, online community formation, etc.), use PowerPoint with audio and video to be converted into online Flash videos, and agility with Web 2.0 tools to enhance course interaction.  For information about LTS see www.lextheo.edu.

The Donald & Lillian Nunnelly Chair in Pastoral Leadership

LEXINGTON THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY invites applications for the Donald and Lillian Nunnelly Chair in Pastoral Leadership.  Its incumbent must be able to teach required and elective courses in: leadership and administration of religious organizations; understanding the nature and dynamics of congregational life and mission; small church life and leadership; particular issues in pastoral leadership (e.g., evangelism, stewardship, revitalization, starting a new church).  The incumbent of this position also directs the seminary’s accountable ministry site program, and collaborates with the director of its mentoring program. The successful candidate will have deep and significant experience of congregational life and pastoral leadership, and an appropriate doctorate.  Strong potential or record as a teacher and scholar of pastoral leadership is expected.  Rank of appointment will be commensurate with experience and credentials.  All regular faculty at LTS hold appointments on renewable three-year contracts.  Applications from women and persons of color are especially encouraged.  Lexington Theological Seminary, the oldest seminary of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), offers a congregation-centered, competency-based M.Div. curriculum with two thirds of required and elective courses taught online.  Online courses are offered year-round in short formats so that students may begin study in any month.  The school is committed to building a multi-racial, multi-cultural, and an open and inclusive community.  Further information about LTS is available at our web site ( www.lextheo.edu ).  Send letter of application, CV, and contact information for three references to Richard D. Advancement Assistant

LEXINGTON THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY is seeking candidates for the position of Advancement Assistant.  This is a pivotal position for the Seminary as it seeks to build a comprehensive institutional advancement program.  Individuals interested in this professional opportunity should share our common desire to work towards the Seminary’s educational mission of preparing individuals for ministry through a new and forward thinking model of seminary education.

This person will work directly with the President and Vice President of Advancement to provide both information and analysis to aid decision making related to fundraising.

A candidate will have a good understanding of technology based office management with specific experience with word processing, spreadsheet, web-based and customer relations management programs.  LTS utilizes Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge program and candidates who have worked with these programs should note so in the letter of application.   A successful candidate will have a pleasant, friendly customer comes first attitude with a desire to initiate, build and maintain relationships on behalf of LTS.   A bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience is suggested.  This position requires an individual with high ethical and moral commitment to the call, preparation and education of individual’s for ministry.
