Academics

Lexington Theological Seminary is a graduate school and thus places a high priority on academics. Courses are taught at the graduate level and the work is challenging. Alexander Campbell, one of the founders of the Disciples of Christ, believed in developing the mind so as to grasp the great concepts of Christianity. The Seminary follows this example by engaging students in the development of the life of the mind.

The following are specific academic policies for students of the Seminary:

Grades

Lexington Theological Seminary uses a 4.0 grading scale. Graduation requires a 2.3 GPA.

Transfer and shared credit from other schools

Credit can be transferred into the degree programs at Lexington Seminary.

To be accepted for transfer, the credits must be less than ten years old, earned at a seminary or graduate school accredited by an organization recognized by the United States Department of Education (or international equivalent) appropriate to the degree at Lexington, and must carry a grade of B or above.

If the student is already in a degree program at Lexington, the work at another institution must be approved ahead of time by the Dean. Work taken through the TEAM-A exchange is not considered transfer work.

M.Div. students may transfer up to 24 hours.

The maximum transfer credits for hours not used toward another degree is 24 for the M.Div., 15 for the M.A., and 3 for the D.Min. Students who have received a degree for credits earned may not transfer those credits toward a degree at LTS, with the exception of shared programs with UK. A student can request that such credits be used to waive required 500 level courses so that they might take other courses.
